I am 64 (retired May 2007), live in Preston, and began to paint just over 7 years ago (self taught) as a hobby with retirement in mind and before I knew it, I was hooked! Now I paint almost every day!
My early work was very amateur and naive, but friends and colleagues were very supportive, and to date I have sold over 1050 pieces. I was thrilled to have a solo exhibition in May 2007, at the Lytham Heritage Centre. Some work can now be seen at Garstang Fine Art, Church St. Garstang, Lancs., and at Rigby's Farmhouse Restaurant, Warton, Lancs.
I donated 50 of my early pieces to the Royal Preston Hospital Medical Rehab unit where I worked before my retirement, and they now line the corridors for the pleasure of patients and visitors.
My aim is to experiment to achieve atmospheric light, and to portray the Lake District (which is only an hour away from where I live, and visit regularly) in my own unique way.
